The Serial Hustler's Guide
A whole collection of jobs. And plenty of stories.
Before and between two full-time jobs, I spent some years freelancing and trying different kinds of work. I loved the variety—and how much there was to learn.
I sold Christmas cards door to door and promoted books through telemarketing. At Coffee Club, I was a waitress, cashier and bar staff member, sometimes all in one shift. I also worked as a field and telephone surveyor, admin clerk, fast-food counter crew member, and sales assistant in an arts and crafts shop and an art gallery.
Then there were the adventures: outdoor adventure instructor, tour facilitator, community development senior executive, and summer camp counsellor.
I coordinated immersion programmes for visiting student groups, facilitated character development and corporate training programmes, and led overseas community service activities. I also travelled to countries such as Korea, Taiwan and Indonesia to market a private school.
My CV probably needed a contents page.
Today, I’m an educator, with three other income streams alongside teaching: livestreaming, affiliate marketing and participating in market research.
Looking back, those experiences have all helped shape who I am. Each introduced me to different people, perspectives and possibilities—and I’m grateful for that.
Perhaps that same curiosity explains why I’ve travelled to 24 countries. I enjoy discovering what lies beyond the familiar.
It also shapes how I approach wealth building and helps me build a wealth vault. When something piques my interest, I explore it, learn what I can and see where it leads. Some interests become wonderful memories. Others open doors to additional income.
