#32 Why “Faking It” Might Be Your Catalyst to Real Success

Sounds unorthodox but “Fake it till you make it” isn’t about pretending—it’s about stepping into confidence while you build real skills.
In my own wealth journey, this mindset helped me dive into new streams like crypto futures.
By acting with intention, learning fast, and starting small, I turned uncertainty into progress.
Keep scrolling, your next money "aha!" might be one headline away.

Exploring Yet Another Stream: My Foray into Crypto Futures
Being the true wealth explorer I am, I couldn’t resist dipping into yet another income stream—crypto futures (also called perpetuals or perps).
The screenshots you see are from my actual trades, just like every other trade image I share in my newsletter.
If you’re new to the term, perps are contracts that allow you to speculate on the price movements of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ethereum without actually owning the coins.
Learn more about it in the spotlight segment below. Stay curious, be open-minded, and yeah… don’t stop learning! Okay, enough of my teacher talk.
You can take a long position if you believe the price will go up, or a short position if you expect it to drop.
What makes perps unique is that, unlike traditional futures contracts, they don’t have an expiration date, so you can hold your position as long as you maintain enough margin in your account.
Perps also typically involve leverage, meaning you can control a larger position with a smaller amount of capital—but that also increases risk, so managing your position carefully is crucial.
Naturally, I didn’t just YOLO in.
I decided to learn it the right way—and that meant investing in my education first.
I joined CryptoKnight Academy, where I learned the ropes, understood the risks, and started small with a few test trades.
I started small, experimenting with trades on Phemex, a platform that’s beginner-friendly but powerful enough for serious strategies.
Bit by bit, I gained confidence. But let’s be real: as a full-time employee who has no time to trade frequently, most of my portfolio still sits safely in ETFs. Crypto perps trading is a tiny, experimental slice of my overall strategy.
By the way, for new readers and subscribers, I also trade crypto options. If you’re curious, check out my previous newsletter issue where I talk about it.

🎬 TRADING PLACES
Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd shine in this sharp comedy about two men whose lives are switched—showing how access to information and opportunity can flip financial destinies. Finance lessons wrapped in laughs and 80s charm.
💡 The Big Idea: The film exposes how financial outcomes often depend more on access and information than talent. Wealth isn’t always about merit—it’s about what room you’re in and what you know.
🔍 Why It Matters: Mindset and environment are powerful wealth factors. Trading Places reminds us that circumstances and systems often shape financial reality more than effort alone.
🚀 Action Step: Audit your environment. Who influences you? What do you read? Surround yourself with smarter money conversations and seek mentors who’ve walked the path you want to take.
😄 Hot Take: Who knew Eddie Murphy in a Santa suit could teach us about market manipulation and social inequality? Wall Street needs fewer suits, more satire.
The Surprising Origins of the Piggy Bank

The term "piggy bank" comes from “pygg,” a type of clay used to make coin jars—showing how people have valued saving money for centuries.
English potters turned these jars into pig shapes, reminding us that starting with small, consistent savings is a timeless way to build wealth over time.
Look, we’ve all “faked it” at some point — pitching an idea before we felt ready, trying a new hustle we barely understood.
But what matters is doing the work after the "bluff".
This week’s reads reminded me: wealth isn’t about perfect plans — it’s about progress.
